If you had to describe your music in a sentence, what would you say?

Red beret pop with a Scouse twist.

How did you get into music?

I’ve always been into music, big time – but I never wanted to make my own music until I was about 18. Even then, I didn’t tell anyone or really act on it. I started writing stuff that helped me with my mental health and since then, it’s just rocketed.

Can you pinpoint a live gig or a piece of music that initially inspired you?

I was big into Queen as a kid. Like, proper. I loved the way Freddie Mercury moved and interacted with the audience. It was something I’d never seen before. His voice was unreal, too. That deffo made me want to be on a stage.

Do you have a favourite song or piece of music to perform? What does it say about you?

It changes with each gig to be honest. I love all my songs but at the moment I’m proper into Darling. It’s a banger about fancying someone and not knowing if they fancy you back. The thrill of it all, I suppose.

What do you think is the overriding influence on your songwriting: other art, emotions, current affairs – or a mixture of all of these?

Mostly I’d say it’s my emotions. Gotta be. I can’t write just because I want to. It has to be brewing up inside me for a while before I can sit down and let it out.

If you could support any artist in the future, who would it be?

Bit ambitious here like but be boss to support Arctic Monkeys, wouldn’t it?

Do you have a favourite venue you’ve performed in? If so, what makes it special?

I loved Sound City. It was my first ever gig and that’s why I’ll never forget it. It was boss.

Why is music important to you?

Just boss, isn’t it? Makes you feel emotions you don’t expect. I love how you can create something and it can mean so much to so many people.

Can you recommend an artist, band or album that Bido Lito! readers might not have heard?

Get on The Band. I reckon they’re quite overlooked but they’re incredible. Proper 70s bangers. Watch their music doc The Last Waltz with a glass of red: best night in, ever.
