For more than a decade, SOUND CITY has been a focal point for celebrating one of Liverpool’s greatest cultural exports: music. In doing so, the festival has animated areas right across the city, helping to create new stories that enrich Liverpool’s world-renowned musical legacy. This year, the festival returns to its roots in the city centre, taking over the former industrial heartland of the Baltic Triangle as its new home. The scene is set, the party is back – so browse our dedicated Sound City 2018 section at bidolito.co.uk/soundcity18 for a full rundown of what to expect this year.

In our festival overview we take a bird’s-eye view of the music and activity that is coming to the Baltic Triangle this year, and Editor Christopher Torpey thinks about what how Sound City’s new outlook will dovetail with that of their new home. The festival’s COO Rebecca Ayres also muses on the festival coming back to their roots this year, and the possibilities and conversations the move opens up. We also have interviews with festival headliners Peace and DMA’S, as well as a host of brilliant artists who are appearing across the two days: Baxter Dury, Superorganism, Idles and Wye Oak. We also preview what is to come at the festival’s conference, Sound City+, which takes place at the British Music Experience on Friday 4th May.

In the run-up to the festival, and over the weekend, we’ll be updating this dedicated section with news, reviews and some additional playlists from artists playing the festival. Make sure you check out the section now. And in the meantime, listen to the Bido Lito! team’s playlist of artists to check out at this year’s festival – there are some hidden gems in here.
