Phase One – 29/08
In recent years, TESS PARKS has guided the creative sprawl housed in the head of the BJM’s Anton Newcombe. But beyond two collaborative albums, sold-out tours and offering up her own songwriting skills to the band’s evergreen frontman, the Canadian native has a star that shines bright outside of her frequent collaborator’s shadow. Pitching up in Liverpool in the late summer, Parks will take centre stage primed with groove-laden, slacker specialties pulled from her solo material and collaborations with Newcombe. There’s a timeless nature to Parks’ music that recalls the unconventional glamour of Nico, coupled with a lyricism that is pure catnip to today’s world-weary outsiders.
