SPOKEN WORD
Spoken Word at The Mansion
23/09/21- The Reader

From their grand home in Calderstones Park, The Reader are pursuing a reading revolution, aiming to connect communities and help us find meaning through literature. As part of this literary revolution, the Reader’s Spoken Word events explore the ability of powerful language to explore our inner thoughts and feelings. Offering a vast selection of writing styles, including poetry, memoir, story, monologues and indefinable prose, the Reader aims to offer something that will capture everyone’s attention and emotions. The September edition of the event will see legendary poet and writer SAINT VESPALUUS take to the stage, delivering his poignant yet humorous tales of urban life. Winner of the 2020 Northern Writers Award for Poetry, JENNIFER LEE TSAI, will perform her spellbinding and exploratory poems, expressing that which has been silenced, unsaid, or muted. The evening will also include a headline performance from genre-bending musician, activist and educator BEIJA FLO, as well as  LOUSE EVANS and MARK J.
