10/11 – Invisible Wind Factory
Refusing to fall victim to the 2020 Covid cancellations, OH SEES finally make their way to Invisible Wind Factory for what is bound to be one of the gigs of the year for Liverpool’s psych rock devotees.
Centring around magnetic frontman John Dwyer, Oh Sees in their various forms (see also: Thee Oh Sees, OCS, OSees) are lauded for their forever developing sound and transcendent live shows.
This rare trip to Merseyside should bring a set which provides a whistlestop tour of all iterations of the band’s sound. This means forays into psych rock, garage punk, prog and promo-metal. The tour is also be the first live outing for songs from the 2020 album Protean Threat.
In 2006 Dwyer founded independent record label Castle Face which became home to psych contemporaries such as Ty Segall and King Gizzard and Wizard Lizard.
Liverpool support band (and former Oh Sees members) BRIGID DAWSON AND THE MOTHERS NETWORK joined Castle Face in 2020 to release the very fine LP Ballet Of Apes. Part Jefferson Airplane and part Alice Coltrane, Dawson’s set will be well worth getting to the IWF early for.
