Baltic Green – 29-30/05
Surrounded by the red brick industrial facades of the Baltic Triangle, the Baltic Green offers a small but defiant patch of green. This grass promises to be greener in May as Come Together festival occupies the space for two days of eclectic performances from musicians, artists, spoken word poets, cabaret artists and other key members of Liverpool’s alternative scene.
The musical offering will feature BEIJA FLO, who’ll present her usual combination of balladry, dance, art and education. Electric and unreserved, Flo is guaranteed to jolt us back into the world of live events with her intense and raw live performances.
Come Together also welcomes cabaret and burlesque artist NANA FUNK and be-sequined drag host and vocalist FILLA CRACK, along with UGLY BUCKET THEATRE. PADDY CLARKE AND THE FANCY RATS join the line-up, offering a blend of folk-punk laced with a poet’s discerning and self-conscious lyricism.
Also playing across the two day event, SAMURAI KIP offer a jazz funk fusion with growling gravely vocals, elevated by an undercurrent of rousing trombone. Meanwhile, APRIL MOON balance out the Kip’s rougher edges with their soothing guitar and mellifluous harmonies.
This musical line up is complemented by unflinching performance poet GERRY CLARKSON and improviser and wordplay specialist TREV FLEMMING.
Despite innovations in online events throughout the pandemic, there remains a palpable yearning for the communal unmediated experience of live events among both performers and audiences. Event organisers, the Unusual Art Sourcing Company, supported by Liverpool Sound City and the Everyman Theatre, are responding to this craving by offering the opportunity for audiences and performers to once again Come Together in physical space for this exciting and varied event.
The festival runs from 1pm to 10pm both days and is free to attend.
