The Music Venue Trust has announced the launch of a new campaign to help music venues at risk of being shut down permanently due to ongoing Covid-19 measures. The #saveourvenues campaign, which will look to support over 500 music venues currently as risk in the UK, follows on from the launch of the Grassroots Music Venues (GMV) crisis fund set up last month. The fund has so far rasied over £182,000.
The campaign urges musicians to choose a venue that is currently in crisis and support them by performing an ‘at home’ gig, to which the proceeds will be donated to the venue. Once a target is reached any excess revenue will go to the central #saveourvenues fund to help the wider grassroots music venue community.
Currently 556 grassroots venues are at risk, including several across Merseyside listed below. A full list of venues can be found at saveourvenues.co.uk
