Future stars of Merseyside’s music scene will be showcasing their talent as part of the Merseyrail Sound Station Live festival on Friday 29th March.
The show, part of the BBC 6 Music Fringe Festival, takes place in the unusual surroundings of Liverpool Central Station and represents that culmination of the Sound Station development programme.
Merseyrail Sound Station takes a group of locally-based musicians through a series of artist development sessions with music industry experts, songwriters and producers with this event rounding off semester two of the project which began in February.
The 12 artists who have taken part in the programme are: COSMIC SHEPHERD, ELI SMART, MUNKEY JUNKEY, GALLIA, JAZMINE JOHNSON, PALE RIDER, PODGE, RACHAEL JEAN HARRIS, SALT THE SNAIL, STYERS, THE INDICA GALLERY and WILD FRUIT ART COLLECTIVE and COSMIC SHEPHERD.
The musicians represent a broad cross section of the regions new music community and have benefitted from an industry day which offered one-to-one advice from experts selected from national and local industry organisations. As well as this, a studio workshop ran by ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN keyboard player Jez Wing helped sharpened the artists’ creative visions while an inspiring artist masterclass was led by Becky Hawley of Liverpool band STEALING SHEEP.
Live performances at Central Station begin at 3pm and continue on until 8pm. The Merseyrail Sound Station project continues with a call-out for artists to take part in the third semester at the end of April.
