This July, TRAMLINES returned to Sheffield for its 9th edition. The festival is curated by a panel of local venue owners, promoters and volunteers and brings together an array of talent, both old and new, across an eclectic range of genres.
Bido Lito! photographer Stuart Moulding was there this year, to capture headliners THE LIBERTINES and PRIMAL SCREAM, with both producing quality sets comprised of much loved hits. In addition, THE CORAL, TWIN ATLANTIC and WE ARE SCIENTISTS brought their collective experience in indie rock to Sheffield.
Yet, Tramlines is far from a festival based around older guys in bands playing guitars. Recent Mercury Prize nominees LOYLE CARNER and THE BIG MOON provide their own brands of confessional hip-hop and Britpop-revival guitar rock respectively. Meanwhile, critically acclaimed rapper, spoken word artist and historian AKALA takes on Tramlines with his fierce lyrics laced over a fusion of rap, rock and dance-punk.
Tramlines is also a haven for a diverse arrangement of up and coming artists. Our favourites from the festival include indie pop outfit ALVAREZ KINGS, hard rock aficionados ESTRONS and Merseyside proto-punk rockers GENERATION, as well as the California hardcore of LOGS and jangle-pop quintet THE SSS.
Tramlines returns to Sheffield for a 10th edition, taking place Friday July 20th to Sunday 22nd July, 2018. Tickets are available from http://www.tramlines.org.uk/
