Just two weeks on from the release of his new single No Destination, Liverpool-based songwriter ELI SMART has premiered the accompanying video exclusively on Bido Lito!.

Eli’s love for music blossomed in Hawaii where he was raised, performing a sound echoing hints of retro soul mixed with tropicana, a blend which he calls Aloha Soul.

The latest output from the twenty-year-old takes its inspiration from quirky films and comic books:
“I shot the video with my friend Niloo. We’ve been talking about doing a video for a little while and then I wanted to do a Napoleon Dynamite / Scott Pilgrim vs. The World inspired little narrative in that character. So we tried to adapt that goofy persona and set it in Liverpool, featuring the kebab shop, Mustafa, Botan’s…” Smart reveals.

With lyrics like “I’m feelin’ alright, but you ain’t gonna be my girl,” Eli affirms: “That song for me was about pre-date nerves, trying to figure out what to wear, your breath smells and generally just freaking out and you just want it to go well. In your mind, you envision this parallel universe where nothing goes well, but maybe it does in the end, who knows?”
